The multimillion-dollar Rockingham Foreshore Revitalisation project was recently completed for the City of Rockingham in September 2019.  The project encompassed the engineering and landscape upgrade of numerous discrete sites along the foreshore of the main tourist precinct of the Rockingham town site.

As part of a landscape architect led team, TABEC undertook the detailed engineering design for construction of roads and signalised intersections, water-sensitive urban design drainage outcomes, trafficable exposed aggregate feature concrete, on-street car parking facilities and water services.  TABEC also provided contract administration support services for the construction of the civil works, attending site meetings and regular inspections of works at critical hold points in the works program.

In addition to the design of the civil engineering aspects, TABEC also effectively interfaced all aspects of the civil design with the landscape and coastal protection requirements and coordinated designs to accommodate power, lighting, communications, structural and traffic engineering design elements where necessary. Civil engineering designs were produced in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary project team of landscape architects, coastal, electrical, communications and traffic consulting engineers in close consultation with the City of Rockingham and community stakeholder groups.

The Rockingham Beach Foreshore Revitalisation won first place in the Best Public Works Project Greater Than $5 Million (Metro) category. The award recognises excellence in local government engineering. The project also won the G.K. Watters Award as the ‘Best of the Best’ for 2020.
